What we collect in Inner West
Cafes, restaurants, pubs and small food manufacturers sit in converted terraces and warehouse buildings, usually with very little space to store a bin. Many are on strips where several businesses share a rear lane. A 660L organics bin collected more often is almost always a better fit than a larger bin that cannot be moved out of a narrow galley kitchen.
Access and collection
Rear lanes, kerbside presentation and residential neighbours set the constraints. Early collection helps businesses but the run has to be planned around noise and around lanes that a full-size truck cannot turn in.
Bin sizes
Bins come in two sizes, 660L and 1100L, for general waste, commingled recycling and food organics. Which one suits depends on the volume produced between collections and how much room the bin area has. For food organics the 660L is the usual choice, because food waste is heavy for its volume and a smaller bin stays easier to move.
